Hilary Alexander was honoured with the Media Award; on stage, Alexander, who wore glitter in her hair announced that she was still clutching her reporters’ notebook. “It is terribly hard to prise a fashion journalist from her notebook. It might require surgical intervention. I am hugely honoured and feel I am accepting this award on behalf of the entire British fashion industry.” Michael Kors who presented Alexander with her award called her “unsinkable.” Kors applauded her “enthusiasm and fearless energy with which she has covered fashion” and called her a “great cheerleader for style and a friend of fashion.”

The CFDA Board of Directors paid tribute to Arthur Elgort; whose award was presented by Vogue’s Creative Director Grace Coddington. Since the 1970’s, Elgort’s photography has had a prolific influence on fashion, creating images that have captured people’s imagination and inspired fashion lovers worldwide. His chosen genre of photography is a delightfully casual, optimistic, delirious energy of clothes being lived in, loved in, and travelled in—and, best of all, worn on a model who looks like she is having fun in the bargain.

Ombre Red Carpet: Hilary Swank in Gucci at this year’s Academy Awards
The Ombre trend and Spring/Summer go together like strawberries and cream – so perfectly summery, whimsical, fun and indulgent. Who can recall those divine Christian Lacroix ombre tights from Spring 2008 Couture? Or Hilary Swank’s amazing ombre feather Gucci gown at this year’s Academy Awards? How about the dazzling Peter Som number which First Lady, Michelle Obama recently stepped out in for the G8 Summit in France?
Ombre Politics: First Lady Michelle Obama heading to the G8 Summit in France last week
Ombre Hair: Starlets everywhere rushed to their nearest salon to get “ombred” this season
…And unless you have been living in a dark hole you will have noticed the ombre hair trend that seems to be everywhere this season; from Drew Barrymore’s golden blonde to Rachel Bilson, Ashlee Simpson and Alexa Chung’s chocolate and caramel shades. But for those of you who aren’t brave enough to try it, or, if like us, are growing a bit bored of seeing it might like to try this…. OMBRE NAILS!
Ombre Nails: Try picking out five tones of the same colour to recreate this look
Ombre Nails: Or go for a dramatic gradient using metallics
Such a great way to work the ombre trend into your look – zero commitment, no risk of it looking like a lazy accident and you are free to change the colours to your heart’s content! ♥ We love.View Comments / Make a Comment
