JASON WU CRUISE & SPRING/SUMMER 2013

Jason Wu debuted his first Ready-to-Wear Collection in 2006 with a unique and distinctive aesthetic. Through merging American sportswear with old world sophistication he established a supremely feminine and modern sensibility. Since the first collection Jason has been dedicated to make clothes that were as beautifully crafted inside as out. With the focus on couture quality craftsmanship, over 85% of the Jason Wu Collection is manufactured in New York City’s Garment District. For his Spring/Summer 2013 collection, Jason was inspired by the provocative imagery of Helmut Newton and the soft, dream-like photos by Lillian Bassman. The works of both photographers are centered on the female form – Jason was inspired by the tension created by the hardness of Newton’s imagery when contrasted with the gentle forms in Bassman’s work.
