(…And did we ever!)
Last night Dubai, and more specifically, the Burj Khalifa, played host to one of the most hotly-anticipated and talked about events of the year; the Armani Hotel opening.
After being delayed by the volcano-with-the-longest-name-in-the-world, tempo al tempo - the Armani Hotel opened its doors for the first time on April the 27th 2010 to a glamourous crowd of VVIPs, celebrities and international & regional media. Guests were treated to a stunning fashion show which displayed Mr. Armani’s (or Uncle Armani as we prefer to fondly call him!) Spring/Summer 2010 Haute Couture collection. The collection featured lots of angelic white ensembles with moon crescents – a recurring theme throughout – highlighted by circular shapes and structures on gowns and trousers, and more literally with jewel-encrusted crescent evening bags.
Dopo the show (are you impressed with my Italian yet??) we were lucky enough to meet Mr. Armani and take some pictures with him (Facebook profile pic anyone?)… We were then escorted to our own private booth in the hotel’s new Japanese restaurant, where we feasted on oysters, sashimi and blackened cod (yum, yum and yum!). All and all it was a night to remember, a real moment in history and one of the most glamourous events we have been to all year. Bellissimo! (sorry, I couldn’t help it).
